Do Melbourne people not catch the train?

Do Melbourne people not catch the train? This is 6pm. There is noone! And it's the same at 12pm, 3pm and other stations too... and the cafes close at 4 and shops at 5. I feel like I'm in a small country town not a city of 4 million people. What the heck? Sydney's inner suburbs are way more interesting  :(

New Melbourne Metro Tunnel station names revealed

Premier Daniel Andrews and minister for public transport Jacinta Allan said in a press conference today that the main takeaway from the public submission process was that most Melburnians wanted the names of these new stations to reflect their locations. Well duh! It seems like a large % of stations are named for the suburb they are NOT located in... wtf? I reckon they should change all these station names while they're at it... Melbourne's Skybus is great but the traffic is not

Melbourne your traffic is fucking shithouse, no better than Sydney's. Stuck at this one intersection not moving at all.  Fucking intersection only lets 2 cars through at a time. Been stuck here over 20mins not moving Build an airport rail ffs!! To go from my hotel to the airport only took 50mins but on the way back it took almost 2 hours due to peak hour hell...  Natalie  I was somewhere on the edge of Docklands (took the new Docklands/Southbank Skybus route) stuck at this intersection for 20mi ns, got through, then stuck at another intersection/road for 20mins, I could have walked faster than the distance covered in those 40mins and even with the heat I was tempted to.. if only I didn't have this huge suitcase. I seriously can't believe that Melbourne has NFI about the impending population boom and won't build better public transport. I also can't believe the so called 'best city in the world' to live in doesn't have a dedicated airport service! Eve...

B-line bus service in Sydney

Hahaha... I read all the comments and it was just a bunch of people whingeing.. at least the Pittwater Road people are getting a new bus service.. unlike us 'inland' people who haven't had a service improvement or upgrade in at least 20 years or probably never in my lifetime... and now with that new fucking huge hospital they don't think about putting more bus services to the area?  Day or night the traffic around there is a fucking nightmare and you mark my words the number of car parking spaces the hospital has will run out in under 5 years ... bc nobody here uses public transport and they never do anything to make it better.  People here obviously love sitting in traffic jams or standing up in buses for over an hour. This is one of the nicest areas in Sydney to live but the absolute worst for transport. I can't imagine what hell it will be in the years to come... Oh yeah that's right... buulding a tunnel will solve everything .. until we arrive at Wynyard ...

Melbourne’s controversial new sky rail

Yeah it should have gone underground you hopeless planners... what a nice park... sitting under a railway line... wtf? It seems like everyone has ADHD these days, just making impulsive decisions and short term solutions. At least Sydney is getting better and better with public transport with trams and underground lines but Melbourne has NFI. This reminds me of those ugly overpasses in SE Asia. 8 Reasons Why Melbourne's public transport sux

So this morning when it took me 1 hr 40mins to travel 20km (from my childhood home in the northern beaches 'burbs to Darling Harbour) I am reminded of those years of uni when I had to endure this hellish shit 4-5 days a week, 5 years, return journey... And I'm reminded of the #1 thing I hate about Australia and that is lack of urban planning. How could this country be so utterly SHIT at urban planning? The whole city (Well Sydney and Melbourne at least) and country is a mess. We build these big huge houses on big huge pieces of land and have shops and amenities in only a FEW places, forcing almost everyone to drive to get anything done... And the history of designing residential areas goes like this: 1) build huge houses on huge blocks of land, 2) oh shit, we've run out of space, so let's subdivide that land and build 2 houses on one block of land or townhouses, 3) oh shit, we've run out of space again, tear down houses or townhouse and build blocks o...

Things I don't like about Melbourne so far..

Things I don't like about Melbourne so far.. 1. the weather (but maybe I shouldn't count this as nobody can control or change it) 2. public transport (but that can be said for pretty much all of Australia, although trains are usually pretty good and trams are ok too.. it's usually buses that suck really bad). 3. Why tf are the train stations not named after the suburbs they are situated in? and you have train stations with random names and no corresponding suburb even exists. Jesus. and I thought France was the most illogical country from my experiences there... Related article: Melbourne's train stations that aren't quite where they say they are
